In ancient Greek and Roman mythology, the eruptions of Mount Etna were explained as the breath and movement of the giant Enceladus, who was buried beneath the mountain as punishment for fighting against the gods. Today, Enceladus is also the name of one of Saturn's moons, which has its own geysers.
