Although largely replaced by digital communications, Morse code is still used in certain contexts today. Amateur (ham) radio operators worldwide still communicate in Morse code. It is also used in emergency situations when other communications fail, and pilots learn the Morse code identifiers of navigation beacons. Some people tap out Morse code as a form of mental exercise or as a hobby.
