Liquid Paper correction fluid was invented in 1956 by Bette Nesmith Graham, a secretary who used white tempera paint to cover typing mistakes. She secretly tested it at work for five years, perfecting the formula in her kitchen blender. Her son is Michael Nesmith — a member of the pop group The Monkees — and she eventually sold her Liquid Paper company for $47.5 million.
